Erica Burger, D.O., M.P.H. is a psychiatrist and advocate for rural mental health care. She is an outpatient psychiatrist at Gundersen Health in Viroqua, La Crosse, and Boscobel, Wisconsin.
She has experience in small production organic farming and obtained an undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University in sustainable agriculture. Through that experience, she was able to tie the similarities between ecological health and human health and has made it her mission to bridge their interconnectedness.
She attended medical school at Des Moines University, where she also received her Master of Public Health degree. During her residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, she completed a one-year fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute and spent one month at the University of Arizona’s Integrative Psychiatry Clinic to deepen her understanding and practice of integrative psychiatry. She also has experience working in Hennepin Healthcare’s perinatal psychiatry program, helping women navigate major life transitions.
She lives with her husband in rural Wisconsin in a farmhouse surrounded by public land.
